SLGA013 celebrates the 55th anniversary of 44GS, a timepiece from 1967 whose design established the design philosophy known as the Grand Seiko Style. This limited-edition timepiece features the brand’s signature 44GS case rendered in Ever-Brilliant Steel for the first time, a dark gray dial inspired by the sky, and Grand Seiko’s next-generation Spring Drive caliber, 9RA2.
Ever-Brilliant Steel is a type of stainless steel that features greater corrosion resistance than what is generally used in watches today. It also has a brilliant white hue that enhances the beauty of the watch.
The case measures 40mm across and 12.1mm in thickness. SLGA013 is notably thinner other 44GS models offered in past Spring Drive models due to the reduced thickness of the caliber. The case is fitted with a box-shape sapphire, a see-through case back, and matching bracelet.
Released in 2021, caliber 9RA2 offers a power reserve of 120 hours paired with a precision rate of +/- 10 seconds per month. Unlike most Spring Drive movements, the power reserve indicator has been removed from the dial and brought the movement side of the timepiece.
SLGA013 is a limited edition of 550 watches.
