SBGW279 is a classically styled timepiece with elegant proportions and a design that pulls from the first Grand Seiko dating back to 1960. Inspired by the Oruri songbird that migrates from Southeast Asia to the mountainous regions of Japan during Rikka, the seasonal phase that marks the start of summer, the blue dial of SBGW279 is finished in an eye-catching sunray pattern.
The stainless steel case measures 37.3mm in diameter, 11.6mm in thickness, and 44.3mm in length from lug to lug. It is polished throughout with a distortion-free mirror finish, and the box-shape sapphire crystal harkens back to the look of vintage watches.
Inside the watch is Grand Seiko’s 9S64 manual-wind caliber, assembled by the highly skilled craftsmen and women of Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. It has 72 hours of power reserve and an accuracy rating of -3 to +5 seconds per day.
