The original 44GS was the watch that fully embodied the “Grand Seiko Style,” a design code driven created in 1967. 55 years later, this design framework continues to inspire new Grand Seiko watches, and celebrating this foundational watch is SBGP017, a Limited Edition timepiece featuring a special dial and a highly accurate quartz caliber.
The stainless steel case of SBGP017 measures 40mm in diameter and 10.7mm in thickness, and it features Grand Seiko’s Zaratsu polishing for a beautiful distortion-free finish. The dial is adorned with Grand Seiko's acclaimed Iwao pattern—the light blue color here inspired by the sea of clouds that float around the mountains of Shinshu in the mornings.
Powering the watch is an upgraded version of caliber 9F85. It is accurate to +5 / -5 seconds a year, and the hour hand can be advanced independently, making this an excellent traveler's watch. A golden five-pointed star over the six o’clock index on the dial symbolizes the enhanced accuracy of the caliber.
SBGP017 is a limited edition of 2,000 watches.
