A follow up to the ever-popular SLGH005, the new SLGA009 captures the beauty of white birch and pairs it with Grand Seiko’s latest Spring Drive engine.
The overall form of the watch is known as the Evolution 9 Design, and it will be an important part of Grand Seiko’s iconic collection in the years to come. The powerful hands and grooved, prominent markers ensure perfect legibility. The 40mm stainless steel case is Zaratsu polished, with a distortion-free mirror finish and delicate hairline finish alternating to give the case its dynamic sparkle. The case has wide lugs and a low center of gravity that ensures that the watch sits easily and securely on the wrist for daylong comfort.
The dial of SLGA009 captures the quiet mood of the white birch tree forests near the studio in Shinshu, where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are crafted. Unlike the deep waves of the SLGH005 dial, the texture here is more subtle and delicate, evoking Grand Seiko’s brand philosophy, The Nature of Time.
SLGA009 carries the latest Spring Drive 9RA2 caliber, which offers an enhanced precision rate of ±0.5 seconds per day. The movement is equipped with an "Offset Magic Lever" to reduce its thickness and incorporates two barrels to provide up to 120 hours of power reserve. The delicate texture of the movement's finish reflects the frost that winter brings to the forests in Shinshu where all Spring Drive watches are made. The bridge line and the edges of the screw holes are diamond cut to reflect the light from any angle, and they give the movement a quiet glow when seen through the sapphire case back.
