Shinshu, the region where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are produced, was once a major center of silk production. Reference SBGA437 offers a dial with a silk sunray pattern that pays tribute to this heritage. The fine grain of the pattern radiates outwards and catches the light at every angle. It has a soft texture, as if it were the finest silk, which can only be created by the application of soft silver, using a special method of silver plating.
The stainless steel cases measures 40mm in diameter by 12.3mm in thickness, and it embodies the contemporary interpretation of the Grand Seiko Style. The case is rated to 10 bar, and a solid case back protects the movement within.
The watch is powered by Spring Drive caliber 9R65, which is hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Shinshu Watch Studio. Thanks to Grand Seiko’s unique Spring Drive movement, the seconds hand glides silently and smoothly across the dial, perfectly reflecting the natural and continuous flow of time. The power reserve is 72 hours when fully wound and is shown on the discreet indicator next to the eight o’clock index.
